Can Barcelona Sign Griezmann and Neymar?

Can you imagine the stadium announcer during the first weekend of La Liga announcing the players in the Barcelona squad? He starts by announcing Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves, and Marc-Andre Stegen. Then he announces the unexpected, Neymar, Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi, and Luis Suarez.

If this scenario should ever take place, the formation should be 4-2-3-1, and Barcelona managed to achieve the impossible if they had to send Philippe Coutinho to PSG to obtain Neymar and stick to their £120 million buyout clause to get Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann. Barcelona made a player-to-club deal with Griezmann earlier this year that they will gladly spend the necessary money once his buyout clause is lowered. The club is also looking at bringing Neymar back to the fold less than 24 months after he recorded the most significant transfer fee to PSG of €222 million.

Should these two transfers take place, it will undoubtedly create the best team in Europe, complete with Dani Alves making his return to the club after his contract ran out with Paris-Saint Germain. However, there are other less daring and logical solutions to take into account.

Possible Transfer Alternatives for Barcelona

Stick to the original strategy of obtaining Griezmann and avoid the scratching and mewling of Neymar at the backdoor and keep Coutinho on the roster. Transfer Griezmann to Paris-Saint Germain followed by getting Neymar for far less money than it cost PSG to receive him back in 2017.

Now that these alternatives have been mentioned, we can forget about them cause neither one of these options is strategies at Barcelona. By forcing a talented Coutinho to PSG, decreasing the €90 million purchase for Matthijs de Ligt, totting up a further £100 million in sales and looking at appropriate management when it comes to the wages of Neymar, Camp Nou is trying to have their cake and enjoy it at the same time.

The Possibility of the Transfer

Should this transfer of two extraordinary players take place at Camp Nou, it marked the most excellent attacking squad in the history of the club when Griezmann, Suarez, Neymar, and Messi are on the front line. This alone will be more than enough for board members or presidents to go ahead and seal the deal without ever thinking of the consequences. Popularity and ego contests will play a significant role in the decision-making and strategy of the club when this transfer takes place.

Barcelona has made it quite clear that this double deal should take place. What’s quite surprising is that Barcelona is probably the only club in the world that can pull it off. This will hurt them quite a bit financially. However, it will once again place Camp Nou on the map to win an enormous selection of trophies in the process. Would you let this deal happen if you were the manager at Barcelona?
