Three BIG Clubs that thirsted for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Summer

You’d think that a football player past the age of thirty is fast approaching his sell-by date and that big teams wouldn’t be interested in his services, right? Well, not if that player is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports emerging at the start of October 2018 indicate that several big clubs were falling over themselves to bring the Portuguese maestro to their books in the summer. Each of the clubs was ready to table some big money to land Ronaldo’s signature, showing that they all still believe in his abilities.

AC Milan

Former Italian powerhouse AC Milan were the first to show interest in the former Manchester United man immediately their antennas got wind of his desire to leave the Bernabeu. They made an approach and informed Ronaldo of their interest.

Ronaldo was, however, reluctant to make the move as he was not sure they would be competing at the cream of the Italian league, which he felt was a necessity for him.

Manchester United

In a season where England was praying that football would ‘come home’ in the shape of a World Cup win, United also had the hopes of bringing their lost son back to Old Trafford. They went as far as making an offer, but Madrid though the money was too little and brushed off the seriousness of the bid.

PSG

This one was more dramatic and the firmest of all. While they did not have any qualms with meeting Madrid’s asking price, PSG wanted to hold out the transfer until the last day of movement to hold onto Kylian Mbappe.

Ronaldo wanted to have his business wrapped up early for purposes of assurance, so he went ahead to sign for long time Serie A winners Juventus. He is one of very few players who have so much value at such an advanced age, the other one being Zlatan Ibrahimović.
